Winter Tree and Plant Healthcare Services

Winter tree and plant healthcare services Denver

What to do in the winter to keep trees and lawns healthy?

There are two things that property owners might not know about trees in the winter. First, Denver winter months are sometimes our driest. Winter tree care activities include watering and feeding on mild winter days when temperatures are above freezing. Second, winter is also a great time to prune because trees set their leave and flower buds in late summer. Fruit trees with Fireblight are best treated in the winter. Homeowners who had high infestations of aphids, thrips, and scale during the summer will have them again in the spring once these insects’ eggs start to hatch. Call Ross Tree for dominant oil or systemic root treatments to manage these insects. Why not call a licensed, insured, trusted tree and plant healthcare company with an A+ BBB rating? For convenience, we accept all major credit cards. Click the request service button above to fill out a request tree service form or call 303-871-9121.

Each winter is different based on weather, moisture, and summer insect activity. In the videos below, Ross Tree’s General Manager discusses tree issues he and his crews saw this year and in previous years.

Dormant Oil Treatments

Aphids, mites, and scales overwinter as eggs. Dormant oils are sprayed on trees in the winter to control all insect eggs, larvae, pupae, and adults that come into contact with the oils.

Chapstick for Trees

Anti-desiccants sprayed on evergreen foliage form a soft, transparent, flexible film that protects leaves and needles from drying out during the winter. For more information about both these subjects, click here to view Ross Tree’s Winter Tree Care Handbook.
